Kent U13s Pentathlon Champs

The under 13s Kent Pentathlon Championships took place alongside the Open U13s Pentathlon on Monday 28th August in Tonbridge on a swelteringly long hot day. Kacey Walters of Cambridge Harriers (Competing in this event for the first time) did the club proud by battling through and clinching 3rd place with 2084 points in the Kent Championships (and gaining 5th place overall in both events combined).

Lying in 3rd place after the first 3 events (hurdles, long jump and shot put where she gained 2 new pbs) she then faced the high jump where her clearance of 1.44m (equalling her pb) pushed her up into 2nd place. Being one of the last 2 jumpers meant she didn’t get as much recovery time as the other athletes before going in to the 800m race, but she battled through and did the best she could, unfortunately it was very close between 2nd and 3rd place and following the 800m she just missed out on 2nd place, but a really good effort all round with room for improvement for next time.
