National XC Relays (3 x 3k) , Berry Hill Park, Mansfield (Sat. 1st Nov.) Holly Dixon won the opening stage for the club in 9:38, a time that proved to be the second-best of the race. Georgia Huddleston completed the second leg in 11:55 with Hayley Newman (12:39) bringing the team home in 35th from 122 teams. A bit of a reunion! The power of the club to help make lifelong friendships was well demonstrated last weekend, writes Mick Bond . Despite being dispersed across the world a number of members, who’s running prime was 50 years ago, are still in touch and with Liz Barnes (GB 800m Olympian from Montreal in 1976) visiting from New Zealand it was good chance to meet up in person. European Masters Athletics T & F Championships, Madeira (POR) (9th to 19th Oct.) Chris Loudon (M40), who won medals at the World Masters indoor championships in March over 800m and 3000m, focused on the 1500m at these championships, triumphing by two seconds with 4:01.67s. Weekly Update - 15th Oct. 2025
Kent Cross Country League #1, Footscray Meadows (Sat. 11th Oct.) A combination of mild dry weather and Thames Water having finally got round to fixing the leak that had been saturating part of the course made for fast running conditions. Many opted for road shoes and had no cause to regret the decision, an abundance of acorns underfoot being the biggest challenge the course had to offer. Every so often acorn production goes into overdrive, it is what is known as a "mast year"
