About
The clubhouse is the administrative headquarters and meeting place for Cambridge Harriers. Our road, cross country and fell runners meet here to go on road and local woodland runs. The clubhouse has male and female changing facilities and showers, a function hall and an unstocked bar area.
The venue is the meeting place and post-race rendezvous for the three Club Cross Country Championship races as well as the Christmas Handicap. The club also holds regular functions here including a summer barbecue, Christmas meal and disco.
During the summer, Friday runs are held in the Kent village of Shoreham, and Wednesday runs usually take in Joydens Woods. Both runs are usually between 6-12 miles long. In the Winter, Wednesday runs are on several local routes through the streets, hill training or steady runs. Everybody is welcome to join the training sessions that are held from this venue, meeting from 7pm on Wednesdays. Click here for more info.
On the first Wednesday of the month, Keith and Stephanie Dungate organise the 'Glenhurst Handicap', a handicapped 3.3 mile route around the Christmas Handicap course, starting and finishing at the clubhouse. This is an excellent and very social way of measuring improvement, usually followed by drinks and nibbles.
Location and getting here
The clubhouse is based ten minutes walk by the centre of Bexley Village. There is private car parking spaces at the clubhouse for around 30 cars. The nearest train station is Bexley (3/4 mile away). Bus routes that stop near the clubhouse are 132 and 229.
