Woodford Green Open

Updated: Jan 12, 2021

There’s no prize for being the first Cambridge Harrier to start off the outdoor track and field season, but if there was, it would probably be shared amongst the quartet of Katie Marsh, Natalie Mann, Kody Powell and Wole Odele, who got their outdoor season off to a flying start with some fine performances at a cold and wet Woodford, on Saturday afternoon. The High Jump competition was cancelled due to the weather conditions.

Natalie was definitely the happiest Harrier on the day as she got a PB in the Hammer (21.89m) and a best throw of 20.04m in the Javelin.

Katie started off on track with a comfortable win in her first 70m hurdles race of the year, clocking a time of 14.22 secs. She also had a best throw of 22.08m in the Javelin.

400m training partners, Kody and Wole, strayed slightly out of their comfort zones, opting for different events with Kody focussing on speed and Wole looking to boost his endurance. Kody clocked a time of 23.32s for 2nd place in the 200m A race putting him at the top of the club’s 200m rankings, whilst Wole got a season’s best of 2:21.43 in the 800m A race.
