Women’s SCVAC League – Match Two

Our second match was at the Julie Rose stadium, Ashford – a great facility, but a long way away! We had a full team, and also two keen supporters in Sally and Holly. We managed to cover all the events, although that meant that each team member competed at least twice.

This time the 2 track events were 200m and 1500m. In the W35 200m Cara Oliver was 5th in the A string race and Susan Dixon, competing in a younger age group, 4th in the B string. Our athlete in the W50 race was Rose Baker, who came 5th. In the W35 1500m both Emily Gelder (A string) and Cara Oliver (B string) came second. Emily had a very fast finish, overtaking 2 women in the last 100m. Rose B was 2nd in the W50 race, and Ros Tabor 1st in the W60.

The field events this time were long jump and discus. In the long jump Emily was 4th in the W35 competition, and Maria MacDonald 5th in the W50. Again in the discus Maria (W65) competed in the younger (W50) age group and came 5th, while Cara won the W35s with a throw of 15.66m.

Again Cambridge ended up 4th team in the match. We are also 4th overall (out of 7 in our division).

The next match in on Friday 2 June at Tonbridge.

Full results are on the SCVAC website.
