Southern Counties Veterans League (Kent), Eltham (Fri. 1st May)

The club kicked off its Southern Counties Veterans League - Kent Division campaign on Friday at Sutcliffe Park, where both the men’s and women’s teams placed fourth in their respective fixtures.

The men’s team delivered several standout performances, with victories from Chris Loudon in the M40 3000m (9:12.9), Alan Porter in the M50 discus (42.00m), and Wole Odele in the M60 400m (59.0).

On the women’s side, while there were no first-place finishes, the team produced a series of strong runner-up performances. Natalie Mann took second in the W35 discus (25.75m), Christine Bond secured second place in both the W60 400m (84.3) and shot (6.14m), and Maria Macdonald added another second-place finish in the W70 shot (4.29m).

National Youth Development League (Lower), Eltham (Sun. 3rd May)

The second team outing of the season for the club’s Under-16 and Under-14 squads saw them face strong competition from teams across South and East London, writes Mick Bond. A provisional third-place finish behind Havering and Herne Hill—but ahead of Bexley, Victoria Park, and Newham—represented a solid team performance.

U14 Girls: There were excellent personal bests across the board. On the track, Nuala English impressed in the 800m, finishing second in 2:30.4. In the field, Alexandra Rioland delivered a standout performance, winning the hammer with a huge throw of 27.77m.

U14 Boys: Desire Ayinla was the standout athlete, claiming victories in the 80m hurdles (11.97), the 200m (24.39), and the high jump (1.83m).

U16 Girls: Sophie Floyd showed great determination in her first outing over 300m hurdles—rushing to the track just in time before running a solid race to finish third in just over 50 seconds. With better preparation, she looks set to dip under 50 seconds next time. Charlotte Foster dominated the 1500m, producing a superb 10-second personal best of 4:35.86 and winning by more than 30 seconds.

U16 Boys: This proved to be the club’s strongest age group, with several impressive victories. Jovanni Lyndsey won the 200m in 23.52, while Austin Richards took the 800m in 2:06.82. There were also double victories in the 300m (Waylon Lee and Lucas Colley), high jump (Elazar Adejinmi and Sherwin Felix), and long jump (Isaac Ajao and Emmanuel Brown). The afternoon concluded on a high note with victory in the 4x300m relay.

Bannister Miles, Oxford (Mon. 4th May)

Bannister Miles hosts a series of mile races throughout the day, starting with U13 events and progressing through U15 and U17 trophy races, before culminating in the elite men’s and women’s miles.

In the women’s C race, Meredith Cummins finished fourth and delivered a strong performance, cutting seven seconds off her previous personal best to record a time of 5:13.13.
