Lily Gayle got on the podium again at a national championship taking silver in the under 20 hurdles with a new PB, albeit in a slightly windy 13.82s.

Jack Jones had a successful return from injury with a solid 6th place in the under 20 long jump (6.72m).

Cambridge Harriers Beer Mile, Greenwich Park (Fri. 25th July)

The Cambridge Harriers Beer Mile is always one of the highlights of the summer season, writes Clem Dixon. This year we were joined by a team from Plumstead Runners and I am proud to say that the entire Cambridge contingent finished in front of all of the Plums.

Our format is the traditional British version of the event: 4 x (pint of beer + 400m) although this year we did allow other beverage choices for anyone who wanted to run as a non-scorer, Chantelle McGinty was the only one to do so and was second to cross the line having drunk a quarter of a bottle of wine at each drink stop. Chantelle was also the only female participant this year, although one of the Plums did it wearing a frock for reasons that aren't entirely clear.

Clem Dixon was back to his best, just one second off his winning time from three years ago but he was still half a minute adrift of last year's winner James Macdonald who retained his title with ease.

Debutant Anthony McGinty was third. Our thanks go to Graham Maynard and Les Pullen for timekeeping, to the Plums for joining us, and to the many enthusiastic supporters.

1 James Macdonald 8:30. Chantelle McGinty (non-scorer) 8:57. 2 Clem Dixon 9:04. 3 Anthony McGinty 10:26. 4 Paul Millbank 11:32, 5 Ivaglo Enchev 12:21. 6 Adam Bailey 12:48. 7 James Otter 12:52. 8 Justin Griggs 13:22.
