Weekly Update - 14th June 2023

Irena Szewinska Memorial/WA Continental Tour, Bydgoszcz (POL) (Tue. 6th June)

Darryl Neita blasted to a 200m personal best of 22.23s as she finished ahead of American Anavia Battle 22.47 as she set a meeting record , European lead and club record.

British Grand Prix of Race Walking, Leeds (Sat. 10th June)

Hannah Hopper (U23) won the senior women's 10,000m race walk at the British Grand Prix of Race Walking in a time of 54:57.62s in very hot conditions, so was delighted to take the win in such brutal conditions.


Kent Schools Championships, Gillingham (Sat. 10th June)

Iris Williams won the Kent Schools junior girls 1500m title in a time of 4:50.38s.


Southend Half-Marathon (Sun. 11th June)

The Southend Half-Marathon comprises a two-lap course taking the runners along the scenic coast with views over the Thames Estuary. Four club members made the trip to the Essex coast with Christian Poulton the first to finish in 1:27:26. Next was Darren Waters, making his debut in club colours, in 1:58:46. Angela and Paul Ford recorded 2:15:50 and 2:28:18 respectively.


St Albans Half-Marathon (Sun. 11th June)

The St Albans half-marathon is described as a challenging but rewarding race taking the runners through the country lanes around St Albans. One club member, Will Longhurst, took on the challenge finishing in 58th place overall in a time of 1:33:22.


Blackheath & Bromley Harriers T & F Open, Norman Park (Mon. 12th June)

800 metre personal bests were recorded by Iris Williams (U15), who knocked two seconds off of her previous mark with 2:17.17s and Bobby Babaker (U23) with 2:10.28s. There was a long jump personal best for Miya Cook (U13) of 3.98m. A couple of our young athletes took the opportunity to compete in new events with Celia Yeatman (U15) clocking 50.49s over 300m and Esther Yeatman (U13) running in the 100m recording a time of 17.04s.
