Track & Field Round-up
Although late in the season, Cambridge Harriers club members have produced some excellent performances over the last week.
Wole Odele ran a seasons best of 25.90s for 200m at the Woodford Green with Essex Ladies Graded Meeting (Tue. 10th Aug.)
Sabrina Sinha and Holly Dixon were in action at the BMC Gold Standard Races (Wed. 11th Aug.) in Watford. Both were seeded to run in the women's A race. Sabrina crossed the line in 6th place with a time of 4:16.76, Holly finished 12th in a new personal best of 4:25.09.
Sabrina was in action again at the BMC Grand Prix (Sat. 14th Aug.) at Sutcliffe Park where she recorded a personal best over 800m of 2:04.65.
On Saturday the clubs senior team was in action in the Southern Athletics League at Erith where they again finished third behind Blackheath & Bromley and Bexley. There was a big PB for Darren Oregbomwanhia (U20) who ran 50.9s in the 400m, previous best having been 52.13s. Sophie Fenner launched the hammer over 35 (35.10) metres for the first time and Hannah Bridge (U17) achieved 10.65m in the shot, using the senior weight for the first time.
The club had three athletes in action at the Manchester International (Wed. 18th Aug.). Hannah Hopper and Daniel Falode were both selected to represent the GB Juniors team and Sabrina Sinha running as a guest. For Hannah this was her first GB vest. Hannah finished 4th (although took bronze as one of the women ahead of her was a guest from Ireland) behind three seniors, recording a 38 second personal best of 25:56.06 in the 5000m walk. Daniel finished 2nd in the triple jump, again behind a senior, with a best jump of 15.61m. Sabrina took bronze in the senior women's 1500m in 4:24.10.
At the Lee Valley Sprints Night (Wed. 18th Aug.) Dejaune Lingard (U17) clocked a personal best of 10.53s over 100m to go No 1 on the UK U17 rankings and 7th on the all-time-list.
