Ronald Alison BEM


Medal of the Order of the British Empire for Meritorious Service


Earlier this year, Ron Alison was recognised in the 2017 Queen’s Honours list for his services to athletics and this Friday he was officially awarded his BEM – British Empire Medal. Ron was recognised for over 40 years of athletics coaching in a ceremony held at the Tower of London on Friday 17th November. Ron was presented with his medal by Mr Kenneth Olisa, Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London on behalf of Her Majesty The Queen.


The BEM dates from 1917 and is awarded for meritorious service deemed worthy of recognition by the Crown.


Ron, from Charlton in Greenwich has been coaching athletes for Cambridge Harriers for decades and continues to offer his coaching advice and support to local athletes. Over the course of forty years Ron has coached many high class athletes, a number of whom have reached international level.
