One of Our Stars from the Past

Updated: Jan 13, 2021

I came across this picture which belonged to my mother, whose maiden name was Thelma Castledine (1917 – 2007). She ran and jumped for Cambridge Harriers in the 1930’s and I think she is on the far left. I believe she may have come third in the Long Jump at the All England Championships at White City in the late 1930’s. She also ran in sprints and relays for the Club. On the right is the team’s coach, who I believe was either in the Army at the time, or ex-Army.
