KENT LEAGUE – SENIOR MEN – Match 1

Updated: Oct 9, 2020

In the first Kent League fixture of the season Dean Lacy in 10th was our first finisher closely followed by Bayley Massey, now a senior, in 12th. Luke Ford’s rapid improvement continues as he and David Reader completed our four-to-score team which came 4th. We were bolstered by Tom Simpson electing to run in the Seniors race rather than the shorter Under 20s race and in total we had 15 finishers, this time the honour of completing the twelve-to-score team fell to Wole Odele, the team coming 7th.

In the earlier over 70s race run over 5k in conjunction with the senior women we had three of the twelve finishers, the highest placed being Peter Hadley in 3rd.

The first fixture was back at Swanley Park after a gap of a few years and the general consensus was in favour of the twisty-turny course which had plenty of interest. The frequent switch-backs gave plenty of opportunity to shout encouragement at fellow members who were ahead or behind on the course.

After the race most of us managed a quick turn around to get down to the clubhouse for the Quiz Night where Graham Maynard, Mark Cross and Martin Hawkins were winners.
