English Schools Champs
Held in a hot and sunny Birmingham the club’s members acquitted themselves very well, coming back with a series of pb’s not to mention a Gold, Silver and Bronze medal.
Pride of place goes to Nana Gyedu who smashed her own personal best to take gold in the Under 15 Girls shot with a put of 13.86m. Abbie Stewart was not far behind setting her own pb of 11.27 For 6th place.
Luke Okosieme nearly replicated Nana’s gold but just lost out on count back and so took silver in the Inter boys High Jumps with 1.95m. Paula Holguin added to the club’s medal haul throwing 44.34 in the Under 17 Girls javelin for Bronze.
Brandon Mingeli improved on last year to move up from 8th to 6th in the under 17 boys 100 final with a time of 10.86. Lara Atkinson made the 1500m final after a good tactical run in the heats and then took 7th place with a time of 4.40.26 just outsider her pb.
Others who had done brilliantly to qualify but on the day couldn’t make the top eight were:
Prince Malumba Under 15 Boys 100m – 7th in heat in 1.93 but has another year in the age group.
Atta Gyedu (Nana’s twin brother) under 15 boys 200m heat 4th in heat in a pb of 23.57.
Dennis Skelton Under 17 boys 200m 5th in heat with electric pb of 23.07.
Paige MacHeath Under 19 Javelin 14th with 31.64m.
Jade Fitt under 19 400 hurdles 5th in heat just outside pb with 66.31.
Ella Newton Under 19 1500m 13thin heat with 4.47.91.
Zoe Tompkins under 19 800m 6th in heat 2.18.08.
