English Masters Indoor Inter Area Challenge

7 club members were selected to represent their masters area club at this year’s Indoor Inter Area Challenge at Lee Valley. The annual event, organised by the English Athletics Masters Association (EAMA), is open to all Masters area teams in the UK, including Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.  The competition is organised for men and women in four age groups, 35-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70+. Sunday’s event featured the Welsh Masters team plus 6 other area teams covering the English counties. With 7 teams and 6 oval lanes, some of the sprint races were run as A & B finals.

Jenny Agyepong and Wole Odele were the only Cambridge winners on the day with Jenny winning the W50 shot with a 9.09m throw, and Wole winning the M50 60m by a hundredth of a second to earn a season’s best of 7.90s – an age-graded performance of 94%.

Peter Wishart was 2nd in the M50 shot competition with a 9.39m throw and Ray Daniel was 3rd in the M60 800m in his first outing at the distance this season, in a time of 2:35.15. Other Harriers competing were Ros Tabor, Tim Carter and Barry Ferguson. Tim and Wole also competed in the 4x200m relays.
