Cambridge Harriers Achieve Registered Charity Status

Dear  Club Member,

You may recall that at a special general meeting in September the club took an important decision to convert to charitable status. I  am pleased to be able to tell you that the Charity Commission  have accepted our application and we are now a registered charity.

The Commission asked for a small change to our objects which now read as follows:

The promotion of community participation in healthy recreation by the provision of facilities for athletics’

We can now proceed to transfer the assets and liabilities from the current  Cambridge Harriers operation to the new charity.

We will also commence registering the clubhouse  in the name of the new charity with the Land Registry. It is important that we avoid incurring stamp duty on the transfer  and we will therefore engage specialist solicitors to help us with the transfer.
