NORMAN PARK 22 AUGUST, 2020

A brilliantly organised covid-secure meeting, featuring Dina Asher-Smith and British Paralympian, Ali Smith, saw probably the largest turnout of Cambridge Harriers at an open meeting outside of Sutcliffe Park in recent history, as 22 competition-hungry club athletes descended on Norman Park. The spirits and training of the young athletes were certainly unaffected by the recent covid restrictions as they knocked out a wealth of PBs and respectable maiden performances. Katie Marsh, competing outdoors for only the second time this season, improved on the club record she set just a week ago for a new Javelin PB of 39.12m. Cleo Agyepong was another athlete to set a new PB in the field as she threw the shot over 14m for the first time.

An incredible 18 Harriers competed in the 100m with 6 setting new PBs, whilst some were competing over the distance for the first time. Brandon Mingelli, Dante Legister and Divine Akinlolu (PB) set the fastest male times, whilst Chichi Cooper, Kacey Walters (PB) and Emily Cadman, took the honours for the ladies. Most importantly, all the Harriers completed the 100m faster than Dina Asher-Smith's time of 17.20s for 150m.
