Commonwealth Bronze and Silver for Daryll
Daryll Neita set yet another amazing club record in the 100m semi finals at the Commonwealth Games scorching home in 10.90 and setting up a a clash with Elaine Thomson-Herah the Olympic Champion in the final. Unfortunately it was not to be in the final, but a storming second half of her race brought Daryll a bronze whilst a successful anchor in the 4x100 relay added a silver to her tally. She now moves on to the European Championships which starts in Munich on Monday August 15th.
Junior Team Success
The club’s Junior teams all competed well over the weekend with the Under 13/Under 15’s finishing the season comfortably in 5th place in the Division 1 of the Kent League (and so staying in the top Division for next year) whilst the Under 20/Under 17 team finished just behind Medway in the National Youth Development League (and so get promoted for next year).
Both teams are benefitting from really talented squads across a range of events and an excellent team spirit and the Under 20’s especially are hopeful of achieving a second successive promotion next year which will put them up with the highest Division in 2024.
With both the under 15/13 and under 20/U17 teams promoted in the YDL this weekend sees the turn of the seniors to see if they can promoted as well this time in the southern Athletics League.
