The Centurion Running South Downs Way 50 is a challenging and rewarding 50 mile ultramarathon that traverses a stunning section of the South Downs Way National Trail. With a significant amount of elevation gain and a mix of terrains, this race is a test of endurance and a fantastic way to experience the beauty of the English countryside.

John O'Mahony completed the race in 7 hours 49 minutes and 7 seconds.

Cambridge Harriers Club Trials, Sutcliffe Park (Sun. 12th Apr.)

Sunday saw the start of the track season for most of our juniors, and it was great to se so many light blue vests on show, reports Mick Bond. We had 165 entries for the event just short of last year’s record of 180 and these included over 40 non-members coming along to try out for the club. Blustery conditions meant times were not what they could have been, but there were still lots of early season PB’s and lots for team managers to mull over as they look to make their fist team selections.

Road Running Roundup

A busy weekend for our road runners saw strong performances both at home and abroad. The club had seven finishers at the Brighton Marathon, with David Worden leading the team home in an impressive 3:09:10.

Four of our runners were making their marathon debuts, all completing the distance with determination: Hannah Araniello (3:11:48), Olesya Golovina (3:34:27), Vincent Bleu (4:23:35) and Fadila Hale (5:33:34). Ben Guy delivered an excellent run to record a personal best of 3:11:50, while Thresa Massey marked a milestone by completing her 10th Brighton Marathon in 4:09:51.

In the supporting 10K event, Becki Hilton-Hanns led the way with a strong 45:30, followed by Tracy Brown in 1:09:33 and Stephanie Dungate in 1:10:30.

Over on the continent, there were more outstanding performances. At the Rotterdam Marathon, James Macdonald recorded his fifth sub-2:30 finish, crossing the line in an excellent 2:29:04 to move to the top of the M45 rankings. Phil Dickens also ran well in Rotterdam, finishing in 2:57:02.

In Paris, Kacie Henson made an impressive marathon debut, completing the course in 3:45:35.
