London Indoor Games


A number of the club’s athletes competed on one day or another at this four day indoor Open Meeting at lee Valley. Luke Okosieme competed twice in the high Jump clearing 1.91 the first time and then a huge 2.00m on the second occasion and now ranks a clear second in the UK Under 17 rankings. Another athlete to go second in the UK Under 17 rankings was Brandon Mingeli who improved his 60m pb from 7.23 to 6.98 as the benefit of some winter training started to take effect.

Vera Chinedu was already 2nd in the Uk under 20 rankings after her second place at the Southern indoor champs earlier in the month but a tight hamstring prevented her improving on this though her time of 7.65 was still very respectful! Kera Jean Jean Francois equalled her 60m pb with a second round win in 8.04 whilst Mia Rodney ran a solid 8.19/8.22 double. (stop press Kera went on to run 7.95 at Crystal Palace on Feb 1st) Senior sprinters were represented by Omari Markland Montgomery who ran 7.04 and then 7.05 as he strives to get back under seven seconds for the sixty and Wole Odele who ran a PB of 7.89 in his second round 60.

In the throws Annika Olalere posted a solid 9.18m for seventh in the senior Shot Put whilst Abi Stewart threw a pb of 10.22m for second overall in the under 15 shot Put and a 4th place in the UK rankings with Annabel Obadjere finishing a credible 7th with 8.98m in her first Under 15 competition for the club.
