Rebecca Maddy completed a busy weekend at the KCAA U13G Championships with 2 golds and a silver. On Saturday she won the 75m final in 10.38 with Samy Sylla 4th (10.78) and Cleo Agyepong 8th (10.83). She returned on Sunday to win the 150m in 3 rounds, (21.03) and in between managed a silver in the High Jump with personal best clearance of 1.46m, the same height as the winner. Also on Saturday, Samy won the 70mH (11.83) with Asmara Griffith 7th (12.44) and Ailbhe Barnes won the 1200m (3:57.22) with Madeline Tynan 4th (4:25.71) personal best.
On Sunday, Ailbhe won her second gold, this time in the 800m. She ran a conservative heat to qualify in second place and finished strongly in the final to take the gold (2:28.11). Madeline Tynan ran another personal best to finish 4th. This means they won all the track events except the 2k Walk which Alex McHeath dominated in his quest for gold and the silver medal went to Ethan Fiore.
Another 7 gold medals were won in the Masters age groups.
Matthew Preston won the M40 800m (2:15.42). In the M50 age group Wole Odole won the 400m (58.04) and Tony Tipping achieved a throwing triple in the Shot (13.67), Discus (37.28) and Hammer (42.54). In the M60 category, Ian McCarthy scored a middle distance double in the 800m (2:45.60) and the 1500m (5:44.46).
