Girls U15 YDL Report

Our first YDL meet was in Parliament Hill. The weather on the day was cold, although when the sun did occasionally came out, it felt fairly warm. Our team was small, only 5 girls, but they all did their best.

First of the field were last minute volunteers Shiann Brock-Walters and Jamaica Williams. Shiann was third in A string, with new PB of 18.08 m. For Jamaica this was first hammer competition, and she won B string on throw of 12.92m. In the high jump Ayanna Henry was second equaling her PB of 1.35. In long jump Ayanna had a new PB of 4.14m and was 6th. In discus both of our girls were second with new PBs – Renay threw 11.62m and Jamaica did her first ever discus competition with result of 9.99m. In javelin our only competitor was Hannah Hopper. Hannah did her first ever throwing competitions, as she didn’t want to run on the day before her mini marathon run. She was third in javelin with result of 8.32m. The last field event was shot put – Shiann was second with new PB of 8.59m and Hannah was fourth in B string with 4.38m throw.

Jamaica and Renay Thomas started our track events by running 200m. In A string Jamaica ran 29.05s and was fourth, Renay in the B string was second with time 28.25s. This was a new PB for Renay and a real achievement, as she was recovering from cold. In 100m sprint, both of our girls were second. Shiann’s time was 13.03s and Renay run 13.85s. After her jumps, Ayanna ran 300m, in which she was third with new PB 48.74s. Last event for us was 4×100 relay. In this our girls excelled by winning the relay, with team of Ayanna, Jamaica, Renay and Shiann. Their time was 53.66s.

Overall Cambridge Harriers were 4th in the match. Thank you all who came. As the amount of PBs show, you all did your best.
