Holly Dixon reached the 1500m final for the second consecutive year and performed well, finishing ninth in 4:13.86.
Hannah Hopper, who had taken some time away from athletics to focus on completing her degree apprenticeship as a Geotechnical Engineer, secured a creditable fourth-place finish in the 5000m race walk, recording a time of 27:02.78.
John Clarke Memorial Fell Race, Chingford (Fri. 19th June)
Fell races are categorised by distance and elevation gain. At 5.5km the Orion Harriers John Clarke Memorial Fell race counts as a short race but with 274m of ascent it is in the hardest A category for elevation gain per km, writes John O'Mahony. It is the only category A fell race within the M25 and this is achieved by sending runners up and down the same hill several times with a lung and leg busting final climb to the finish line. It is always a popular race for the club’s fell runners and seven of us turned up this year to run it on a hot Friday afternoon.
John O'Mahony was the first Harrier home in 12th overall in 25:46. Dan Allison finished next in 38th ahead of the continually improving James Floyd (55th, 30:03), who just beat Christian Poulton (57th, 30:26). Sophie Floyd was our first female finisher, taking the first U18W win in 35:04. Graham Maynard, fresh from a 10k race the day before, finished in 37:23 with Emma Brown rounding out the Harriers contingent in 48:06 in just her second fell race. Much needed hydration was available via the free drink included in the £5 entry.

Southern Athletics League, Luton (Sun. 21st June)
Match two in the four match league series was a neck and neck affair between ourselves and new local rivals Southwark AC, reports Mick Bond. Unfortunately we ended up on the wrong side of a 5 point gap at the end of the day finishing second but there were a number of excellent individual performances whilst the plane spotters amongst the team were able to enjoy a regular fly by (roughly every two minutes) of planes coming in to Land at Luton Airport!
Special mentions to Alan Porter and Natalie Mann who both covered all four throws and were out in the hottest part of a very hot day for four hours each.
Eltham Park Five, Eltham Park South (Sun. 21st June)
The club had 15 finishers at this popular trail run organised by New Eltham Joggers. The course consists of two laps through Eltham Park South and Shepherdleas Wood. Gavin Hows was our first finisher, placing fourth overall and second in the M45 category with a time of 30:10. Nam Bui was our second finisher, crossing the line in 19th place in 33:48, followed by Ben Guy in 30th place with a time of 35:15. Our first female finisher was Becki Hilton-Hann, who finished 85th overall in 40:39.
High Elms 10k (Sun. 14th June)
Olesya Golovina was the club's sole entrant at the High Elms 10K on Sunday, a tough single-lap multi-terrain course through the nature trails of High Elms and the Kent countryside. With 236m of climbing on the route, it's a course that adds significant time to most runners' usual 10k pace. Olesya finished in 51:34, 11th female overall and 4th W45.

I finished 77th place in 40:16 at Eltham Park 5
