CAU Inter-County Championships, Nottingham (Sat. 9th Mar.)

Six Cambridge Harriers were selected to represent Kent at the CAU Inter-Counties Championships, staged at Wollaton Park, Nottingham. Holly Dixon rounded off a fine cross country season with an 11th place finish and second scorer for Kent who took team bronze.

In the U13G 3k Sophia-Rose Bonnar led the Kent team home in 58th place with Charlotte Foster finishing 127th. The U15B raced over 4k where Oliver Cook finished 120th. Amelia Lawrence finished well inside the top half of the U17W race in 73rd. Davin Poungui crossed the line in 80th place in the U20M race.


EA 10,000m Race Walk Championship, Northampton (Sat. 9th Mar.)

Race walkers Hannah Hopper and Luc Legon came away with from the England Athletics Winter Track Race Walk Championships held a Moulton College, Northampton, with silver medals. Despite the gusty cold wind Hannah (pictured) reduced her personal best and senior women's club record for the 10,000m walk by over seventy seconds with time of 52:02.97s. Luc, who has missed a lot of training due to work commitments, recorded a time of 47:29.79s.



EA U17 Indoor Combined Events Championships, Sheffield (Sat. 9th Mar.)

Gabby Noyce competed in the Under 17 Women's event finishing 18th out of the 31 competitors.


Lydd Half Marathon/20, Lydd, Kent (Sun. 10th Mar.)

Ten club of the club's road runners tackled the Lydd 20 which takes place on a pancake flat course, using the wide, quiet country lanes surrounding the marsh town of Lydd in Kent and is the perfect build up race for the London Marathon. It was a very successful day for the club with four finishing in the first eight. Ben Shearer (1:51:12) and Tom Brooke finished first and second respectively, with Tom clocking a PB of 1:53:02. Four were making their debuts over the distance; John O'Mahoney (3rd club member home -1:59:12), James Pitts (2:10:04), Joe Sheldrake (2:38:37), Maggie Illingworth (2:46:02) and Joanne Barber (3:15:15). Others completing the race were Rob Shearer, just shy of his PB with 2:06:34, Steven Groom (2:11:18) and Maria Macdonald (3:21:08).



RunThrough Dorney Lake 10k, Windsor (Sun. 10th Mar.)

New member Lizzie Orr made her debut in club colours at the Dorney Lake 10k, where she finished 11th overall and first women in 43:04.


Other News

The club's cross country secretary Clem Dixon continued his rehabilitation after snapping his patellar tendon whilst setting up the course for the club 5 mile cross country in October, writes Mick Bond. On Saturday he completed his first post injury Parkrun at Sutcliffe Park.
