Kent Cross Country Championships – Juniors

Updated: Oct 9, 2020

Abigail Richards gave herself the perfect 12th birthday present when winning the under 13 girl’s Kent cross country championship title.  She did this by beating the prerace favourite from Tonbridge AC.  Past winners of this title include Kelly Holmes (82-83) as well as our own Sabrina Sinha in more recent years.  Second finisher for the club and in 23rd place overall (of 55 runners) was Mary Beck, who was running her first ever race for the club.  Completing the team for Cambridge Harriers were Isla Oliver (36th) and Mia Harris (37th) enabling the club to finish 5th of eight teams.

In the under 15 girls race, Bella Richards used her usual tactics and worked her way through the field to finish 17th out of 48.  Evie Ravenscroft (41st) and Inez Rice (43rd) backed her up in order for the team to finish 6th from eight teams.

Lara Atkinson – on her Christmas break from university – was our only competitor in the under 20 women’s race.  She just missed out on the medals, coming 4th overall from the 15 who finished the race.

The under 13 boys race saw two relative newcomers to the club competing.  Jake May in his second race for the club finished 38th out of 51 whilst making his debut for the club, Felix Tynan finished in 44th place.

We had three competitors in the under 15 boys race.  James Barnes was first to finish for the club in 19th place followed by Thomas Carbin (48th) and Jay McLeod (50th).

As per the whole season, Angus Vosper was our only competitor in the under 17 Men’s race.  Once again he acquitted himself well when finishing 20th of the 36 who finished.
