Indoor Track & Field

Over the weekend, Daryll Neita was in action over 60m at the Muller Indoor Grand Prix in Birmingham where she finished second behind Jamaican Elaine Thompson-Herah, recording a personal best of 7.11s, strengthening her position at the top of the UK rankings and establishing another qualifying time for the World Athletics Indoor Championships.


At the British Universities & Colleges Sport Indoor Championships at the E.I.S. in Sheffield Sabrina Sinha, representing Birmingham University, won her first BUCS title, winning gold over 1500m with a time of 4:25.15s.

Daryll was again in action on Tuesday (22nd Feb.) at the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold in Torun, Poland, clocking 7.17s for fourth place in the 60m final.


Road Running

Whilst some events were cancelled following the wave of storms that battered the UK other events survived and went ahead. The club had two participants in the Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon. Graham Maynard finished 92nd in 1:34:25 and there was a PB for Joanne McCaffrey of 1:46:36.


Down on the Kent coast at the Deal Half Marathon Steve Brown recorded a seasons best of 1:56:38.


The Shearer brothers were in action last night at the RunThrough Chase The Moon 10k in Battersea Park. Ben crossed the line in 3rd place and 1st M45 with a time of 32:49, Rob finished in 21st place and 2nd M40 with a time of 36:31.
