Cambridge Youngsters at National XC Championships

Updated: Jan 13, 2021

On a very sunny and dry day for this time of the year at Parliament Hill we had a disappointing turn out of only 13 from our youngsters. However those that turned up performed well. Once again Ailbhe Barnes showed her big race temperament to produce her normal fast finish to come home 19th and first Kent girl on the U15 4km race. Not to be out done her brother James had a storming run to be 74th in the U13 3km race. He was backed up by Thomas Carbin 386th, Jack Adams 452nd and Liam Carr 508th. Unfortunately Ethan Fiore hurt his ankle just before half distance whilst in the top 50 and did not finish. This left the team in 50th place. In the U15 Boys 4.5km Louis Woods continued his good form to come 138th with Ayub Salaad 240th and John Okomayin 332nd. Jude Taylor started but breathing difficulties just after the start caused him to drop out. Madeline Tynan was our sole U13 girl and came 198th having done the Greenwich London MiniMarathon qualifier earlier. Joe Collins was 302nd in the U17 men’s race and Molly Hawkins came 137th in the U20 Women’s race.
