Cambridge U20 Women County Champions

With Ella in second holding off Sabrina in third backed up by Molly 12th our women easily lifted the County trophy. In the same race all of them were beaten by Lara Atkinson who finished 2nd in the U17 race with Ella’s sister Lilly in 6th. Out-performing them all was Ailbhe Barnes with a superb run to 2nd in her first year in the U15 age group. She was backed up by Hannah Hopper, 22nd, and Jenny Duckworth, 36th, for a 4th place team result. In the U13 Girls Madeline Tynan, 12th, had another good run with Katie Marsh, 45, Orla Wyatt, 51, Lola Thurston-Matthews, 52 & Filippa Norgren,54, they were 7th in the team race.

Turning to the boys we looked at one stage of causing a shock in the U15s with Ayub Salaad leading early on and then getting back with the leaders just after half way but he had tried too hard and ran out of energy with a kilometre to go and stopped. So the team was led to 5th place by Louis Woods, 13, followed by John Okomayin, 37, Luca Treadwell, 40 & Fredrik Nordgren, 59.

Our U13s had the largest turn out with ten preparing to race. However, Theo Treadwell could not shake off back problems so did not start. Ethan Fiore brought them all home in 10th followed by James Barnes in 11th. They were backed up by Thomas Carbin, 21, Christian Hopper, 23, Jack Adams, 50, Reuben Chandler, 58, Theo Hafford Tear, 72, Liam Carr, 73 & Dontay Thomas 81 giving the team 4th place.

Joshua Olawunmi ran a strong race for 5th in the U17 with Evan Chandler, 22, just getting the better of Tom Simpson,23. In the U20 Bayley Massey came 8th with Reece Miles 21st
