Cambridge Harriers win in 20 milers

With the London Marathon only six weeks way, many of the club’s road runners have spent the early part of March racing over 20 miles.

On 5th March, Dean Lacey ran 1:51.34 for 4th, and Steve Hodges 2:00.33 for 21st whilst representing Kent in difficult conditions in the Essex 20 at Langham.

Facing similarly brutal weather conditions over in Thanet, James Macdonald took the win in 2:10.12. Maria Macdonald came in 2nd in the FV55 category in a time of 3:30.29. Clem Dixon was 7th MV50 in 2:40.51 and Anna Rowland 9th FV55 in 3:55.45.

In conditions much more conducive for fast times a week later, Ben Shearer followed up James’ win with victory in the Lydd in 1:50.30. And Rose Baker was a winner in the FV50 category, coming home in a time of 2:29.15. AT the same event, Phil Dickens ran 1:53.39 for 3rd, Mitch Dann 2:05.56 for 10th and Rob Shearer 2:07.47 for 12th, helping Cambridge Harriers to win the men’s team prize.
