Cambridge Harriers represented at the Inter Counties in Oxford

Three female Cambridge Harriers were selected to represent Kent at the Inter Counties match in Oxford.

The best performance of the day came from Ailbhe Barnes who came 14 th in the U 13 girls race and earned a team silver medal. However by the time the U 17 girls took to the field over 5k the drizzle turned into steady rain and it was not Lara Atkinson’s day. She has been on great form in the Kent League but this time came home 34 th.

The rain then became very heavy indeed for the senior women’s race. Caroline Ford was not able to run as well as she had the previous year at Biggleswade or as well as her league form would indicate coming 37th.

The Kent organisers may want to think about improving the experience for their athletes- there was no shelter provided for the athletes. Even with the trusty bin bag kit and spare clothes became soggy and preparation/ warm up was hard when you couldn’t keep warm before the start.

In men’s U17 race, Noah Armitage-Hookes finished 32nd in the U17 Mens race and was the forth man home from Kent helping the team to forth place.
